A Better World

Trouble begins in small ways and grows quite rapidly. The child who steals small items can be taught not to repeat this act again. But if he is allowed to get by with these small acts, he will then steal more important items. Soon he will be laughing about stealing just like the rest of us do every day.

Killing and violence grow in just the same way. A small act should be stopped in its tracks. It might be an act against another child or a domestic animal. Even an all-out fight should be stopped immediately. There is no excuse in hitting one another. If hitting and shoving is not acceptable behavior, then this sort of behavior will not escalate to violence and killing.

Parents are in charge. It is up to them to make their young children behave in a civilized manner. The can do this by consistent good example and expectations.

Meanwhile, back at the store that is open twenty fours hours every day, there is still no rest for the weary. No relief for anyone. Many people are holding down two and three jobs every day. They have to do this to keep the kids in college, or the multiple car payments made, or the house payments current. And of course they have to buy, buy, buy all those items to keep up with the Jones'. That syndrome is bigger and better than ever now. Make more money, spend more money. That's the whole aspect of our lives in these current years.

Our Churches have always been the quiet in the storm providing some sort of respite from the real world. This was one place man could always go to unburden himself. Here he was supposed to find some sort of peace and tranquility to help him face his world. Now even the Churches have abandoned most of us.

Instead of that quiet place in the middle of the world's noise, they are usually noisier than the world itself. They provide no relief from the din outside. Many have become literal country clubs. They are community based, more interested in pleasing each other than providing a place of worship.
